The arrival of Spring
Spring has arrived in the northern hemisphere! It's been a gradual, day-by-day dawning in reality, but it seems simply to have exploded after the sun and the rain. Everywhere I look green leaves are unfurling, blossom dances in the breeze, daffodils wave their cheery golden heads, and bees and butterflies say hello. On my daily walk I stop to lean on the fence and wonder at the tiny lambs bleating and gambolling in the field. The birds seem to be competing with each other as to who can sing the loudest. Clouds there may be, but I know that blue sky isn't far behind. Winter has been so grey and cold that the spring colour and warmth seem amazing. I breathe in the fresh air and feel energized and hopeful.
How can we not feel full of hope in the face of such enchantment? Renewal is all around us and the sense of promise is uplifting. Nature's cycle of birth, flourishing, death and rebirth reminds us that there is always hope, even in the darkest of winters. Spring never fails us. The world keeps turning, and whatever the horrors that are happening on our planet, wrongs can be righted, what has been destroyed can be rebuilt, lives can be transformed.
Each one of us can make a difference. By being hopeful, opening our hearts and treating each other with kindness, we can spread the joy of spring. We can be hope-givers!
